This article describes how to change the HTTP port of the EdgeSight Web server.

Objective

This article describes how to change the HTTP port of the EdgeSight Web server.

Instructions

Complete the following procedure:

Preparation

  • Start Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager console to the EdgeSight Web server.

  • Ability to restart a website or execute IISReset command.

  • Log in with EdgeSight administrator account.

  • Access to EVERY installed EdgeSight agent’s Citrix System Monitoring Agent console, using the Control Panel.

Condensed Solution

This example assumes that the EdgeSight Web server, ESWebSvr, is changing the port number 80 to 1701.

Caution! Refer to the Disclaimer at the end of this article before using Registry Editor.??

  1. Set the Web server in IIS to use new port.

    1. Find the website containing the EdgeSight application.

    2. Change the http port number from 80 to 1701.

  2. Restart the EdgeSight Web server.

    1. Restart the EdgeSight web server using the IIS Manager.

    2. An alternative way is to issue the IISReset command, which will restart all web servers under IIS.

  3. Verify the Report Server URL.

    1. If the Report Server is installed to the same Web server in IIS, then you must change the Report Server URL to use the matching new port number. For the Report Server URL is http://ESWebSvr/ReportServer and the EdgeSight Web server is now http://ESWebSvr:1701/EdgeSight.

    2. Log on to the EdgeSight web console.

    3. Locate the Report Server URL in the Server configuration area.

    4. Modify the Report Server URL to http://ESWebSvr:1701/ReportServer.

  4. Make changes to EVERY installed EdgeSight agent.

    1. Configure each EdgeSight agent to use the new HTTP port. Therefore it is necessary to modify each agent immediately. Each agent that is incorrect configure will cause communication disruptions to the EdgeSight server, and eventually lead to loss of data.

    2. Change the port number on the EdgeSight agent using the Citrix System Monitoring Agent console, in the control panel.
An alternate way is to modify port number value in the registry key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\System Monitoring\Agent\EdgeSight\4.00\NetAccess\ServerPort. Note that this key is a Dword.

Detail solution using EdgeSight 5.x & IIS version 7 in Windows 2008 Server

This example assumes that the EdgeSight Web server, ESWebSvr, is changing the port number 80 to 1701.

The following procedure shows in detail on how to perform the steps to change the EdgeSight server’s port number. However, this detail is very specific to the environment. Therefore the reader should expect to see differences (and user equivalent) steps in other environments.

The graphical user interface (GUI) on IIS 7.0 is significantly different than IIS 6.0.

The Microsoft Report Server is installed to a SQL Server 2008 default instance.

The GUI on EdgeSight 5.x has changed significantly from EdgeSight 4.5.

  1. Set the Web server in IIS to use new port. Assume EdgeSight was installed onto the default Web server.

    1. Right-click Default Web Site, then press Edit Bindings.

    2. Select http (current value is port “80”), then press Edit.

    3. Type?? 1701?? into the Port field (current value is “80”).

  2. Restart the EdgeSight Web server.

    1. Use IIS Manager (version 7.0) to restart the EdgeSight application.

    2. In Manage Web Site, click Restart.

  3. Verify the Report Server URL.

IF the Report Server is installed to the machine as the EdgeSight Web server, then you must complete this step.

MS SQL Server 2008 uses a Report Server Configuration Manager. You can access this from?? Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2008 > Configuration Tools.

    1. Select Web Service URL in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager.

    2. Confirm that the Report Server Web Service URLs shown is the same as the old URL for the EdgeSight web server.

    3. Type 1701?? into the TCP Port field (current value is “80”).

  4. Make changes to EVERY installed EdgeSight agent.

This can be very tedious given many EdgeSight agents. A faster way (not shown) is to replicate the changed registry key.

The Citrix System Monitoring Agent console can be accessed at Start > Control Panel.

    1. Select the EdgeSightServer tab.

    2. Type 1701?? into the Port field (current value is “80”).
